Cashmere
The cashmere fiber is a rare and precious, with extraordinary property. Cashmere is the fine, fluffy, downy undercoat produced by a Cashmere goat, original from mountain regions of Asia, mainly localized in the northern part of China, Mongolia, Iran and Afghanistan.
To survive in a hostile habitat, with harsh winters and torrid summers, the Cashmere goat developed under the upper fleece an undercoat called a duvet. This is the cashmere, a fiber of incredible lightness, softness and fineness (about 14‐15 microns), characterized by high capacity to isolation both from heat and cold.
Each goat produces only up to 200 grams of duvet a year. That’s why the cashmere is so precious. The difficulties related to obtaining and control of the fiber increases further its value.
